AMWA is pleased to offer experienced medical writers and editors to act as mentors for those seeking guidance in the profession

AMWA Mentorship

AMWA is pleased to be able to offer a mentoring programme for individuals who are currently working as a medical writer or editor and are seeking career-related guidance.

After assessing your application, the AMWA committee will strive to match you with an appropriate mentor from within our network. Please note that this is dependent on the availability of a suitable mentor, and not all applicants are able to be matched.

Consideration for mentoring is restricted to current AMWA members only.

For those of you who are considering a career in medical writing or editing, or are just starting out, we are working on compiling a useful list of existing resources and organisations that can support you. We will send a communication out to AMWA members once this information is available and published to the website.

Your mentor will be volunteering their time and goodwill in order to encourage Australasian medical writers and editors who are already working in, but are relatively new to the field. Please respect their limitations on the amount of time available, and note that the formal mentoring relationship is limited to three months.

Please note that your mentor's role is not to assist you in finding work or to edit an individual piece of your work, but to offer more general writing, editing and career advice. If you require an editor, please see our Find a Writer page.

Initial contact will be via email, although the two of you may eventually prefer phone, or other methods of contact.
