Amanda has over 20 years experience as a journalist, editor and media adviser in Australia and the UK. She has worked for the University of Melbourne, the Australian Council of Trade Unions, the Australian Nursing Federation and Macmillan Magazines in London.
As a freelance journalist, Amanda has been a contributor to The Age, Australian Doctor, and The Lancet. News and features have also been published in The Guardian (UK) Campus Review and broad range of print and online outlets.

Amanda was the recipient of the AMWA award in 2003 which assisted in compiling an anthology of stories by midwives “Labour of Love – tales from the world of midwives” which was co-edited with Cate Kennedy. (Pan Macmillan 2005)
