| Ms Carstens specialises in transforming complex medical and scientific information into plain language for both the general public and health care professionals. This process often involves reviewing current research findings, interviewing specialists in the relevant field and presenting information in a balanced and meaningful way. |
| Ms Carstens also has a diverse portfolio of experience as a journalist. She is the principal journalist for an on-line medical magazine, works as a consultant writer and editor, writes evidence-based medical summaries and is a contributing editor to a health magazine. |
Ms Carstens’ past experience includes travel writing, food and restaurant reviews, general magazine feature writing and technical writing and editing. |
| As a registered nurse Ms Carstens is both hospital and university trained, giving her a unique insight into each system. Her experience includes pathology collection services, general medical and surgical wards and specialty areas such as casualty, intensive care and recovery. |
